B110:Genomics and its impact on Society
Abstract: We will introduce current advances in genomics in context of the history of biology. Examples will be given how genomic scale studies have impacted fields as diverse as medicine, forensic sciences, development of novel varieties of food crops and popular culture. We will explore rice genome database, learn how information from rice genome can be extended to other crops, concept of ontology and tools required for comparative studies.
